Providence Hospitality signs management agreement with Caledon Villa Guest House in Stellenbosch

January 14, 2020

As one of the first guest houses of its kind in Stellenbosch, Caledon Villa Guest House has been an iconic Stellenbosch hospitality institution for almost three decades and has been owner operated by the Krige family since 1992. With its authentic Edwardian look and feel dating back to 1910 you can truly get lost in nostalgia walking through its corridors and public spaces.

“Starting the new year off with the signing of such a Stellenbosch icon is a great start to 2020 for Providence! Walking through the property with Johan and Ode Krige is a truly enriching experience and one I would recommend to all who visit! We continue to support the smaller quality hospitality establishments within our South African community and look forward to assisting the owners to take their business to the next level,” explains Neil Hughes, Providence Hospitality’s Head of Business Development.

Caledon Villa offers 15 guest bedrooms, a breakfast restaurant, intimate multi-purpose dining room, old-world reading lounges and seating areas, outdoor swimming pool and carefully preserved gardens. The property has been impeccably curated over the past 28 years by owners Johan and Ode Krige.

“The decision and process of joining Providence Hospitality has been a pleasant experience for us all. We have felt for a number of years that we need to upgrade our operating and online platforms. This alignment  with Providence has given the business a new lease on life and we look forward to developing the business together with them,” explains Johan Krige, owner of the Caledon Villa Guest House.

The guest house is in close proximity to many Stellenbosch academic nodes and is in walking distance to the Coetzenburg Sports Complex. Over the years the business received support from many visiting academics, lecturers and sports groups with many of them returning to this home-away-from-home.

“Stellenbosch is where Providence Hospitality was born and it is where our South African operations are based, so we know the market very well and it remains a key critical development node for our business. Caledon Villa cements our commitment to developing local businesses and helping them to reach their full potential within these constantly evolving market conditions,” adds Hughes.
