new appointments at providence hospitality

Innovative full-service hotel management company, Providence Hospitality, has appointed Sarah Robertson as Head of Sales and Marketing in South Africa. Sarah brings 20 years of travel and hospitality industry experience to this new role, which will see the group expand its offering to include a greater focus on sales, advertising, content creation, traditional marketing and public relations functions.

Sarah has a proven track record within the industry of developing distribution channels, increasing revenue and managing dynamic teams. She has a BCOM in Marketing and Management, a Diploma in Travel and Tourism and has held senior management roles in the industry. These have included heading up sales for Malaysia Airlines in Gauteng and managing the sales and marketing functions for Travel Vision. Seven years ago, Sarah founded adventure operator, Earth Wanderer, which was appointed as the exclusive GSA for Exodus Travels in Southern Africa.  She is also well known as a travel journalist and has been extensively published in Travel News, Tourism Update, Leading Venues and Travel Industry Review over the years.

Also joining the South African Providence Hospitality team as its new Social Media Manager is Xandri Herbst. Xandri is a specialist in communication and brings experience in the tourism, medical and education industries to her new role. While studying at North West University’s Potchefstroom Campus Xandri completed a BA in Communications and an Honours in Tourism Management. She is a Golden Key Society member, was the recipient of North West University’s Business Manager of the year award in 2017 and Flight Centre Business Travel’s marketing campaign winner in 2017. Xandri will manage all the Providence Hospitality portfolio’s social media accounts – engaging with clients, creating unique content for the portfolio and increasing each hotel’s social media following.

“At a time when so many jobs in our industry have been lost, it is wonderful to be in a position where we are able to expand our team. Sarah and Xandri bring a number of key skills to our team, which will fill the gaps that have been created through our recent rapid growth and allow us to expand our client offering in new ways,” commented Providence Hospitality’s Managing Director, Neil Hughes.
